Save Our Schools - Business/Community Sponsorships or donations
Santa Cruz County schools have been hit especially hard by the State budget cuts to education. Due to these current budget cuts, the funds for athletic programs have been eliminated at our local middle schools and high schools. Because of this crisis, parent groups supporting eight Santa Cruz County Schools have joined together to host a Save our Schools Fun Run fundraiser on May 31, 2009 to raise the $500,000 to continue these valuable programs. We are also asking local businesses to become a sponsor and support their local schools in this time of need.
Athletic programs not only affect the well being of athletes, but the strength of the community as well in the following ways:
- Athletics helps promote a healthy lifestyle for our students.
- Athletes are absent less, less likely to use drugs or alcohol, have higher GPAs and have a higher rate of civic involvement.
- Sports programs are one the most effective interventions for disadvantaged students.
- Athletics promote citizenship and school spirit.
- Athletics give students a productive after school activity that deters negative or unhealthy behaviors.
- Athletic programs give students a feeling of belonging.
S.O.S. Fun Run is a project of the Soquel High Fund, a registered nonprofit, in collaboration with Harbor High, Santa Cruz High, Pacific Collegiate, Branciforte Middle, New Brighton Middle, Mission Hill Middle and Shoreline Middle Schools. We are accepting tax-deductible donations. All business donations will be benefiting all the middle and high schools participating in the event. All business sponsors with donations of $250 or more or equal event day supplies will be recognized at the event and the sponsor's names will appear on the back of the event t-shirts. Sponsors with donations of $500 or more will receive a text link on the Soquel Fund web page. Donations of $1000 or more will receive a logo banner on our website. Platinum Sponsors of $5000 or more will be displayed on banners at the event.

Please note: Your donation is handled securely through PayPal via the non-profit Soquel High Fund and is tax deductible.. A PayPal handling charge fee of 2.9% plus 30 cents is deducted from your donation amount.
